A message from Nipawan Lama, visiting academic from USA

I have returned to the States from my recent travels and wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to me during my visit.  I am very grateful to have been given the opportunity to tour your facilities and shadow some of your researchers at CCRG. Special thanks to the entire team for allowing this to happen and for the kindness you have all shown me.

Being able to witness first hand the ground breaking work undertaken by CCRG was inspiring and an invaluable experience that I will never forget. It was one thing to hear and read about ICU of the Future, but to be able to see it unfold into reality was incredible. Coming from a cardiothoracic background, I found the work on the Living Heart Project and hypothermic ex vivo perfusion to be just as exciting. As I continue to reflect on my experience there, I am filled with admiration and awe by the remarkable achievements of CCRG and the way everyone works together with such grace and passion. The dedication, commitment and enthusiasm exhibited by your team members truly underscore the difference you guys are making every day.

As I continue with my own journey in critical care, I have found inspiration in the example set by CCRG and hope that one day I can too, make a meaningful difference through research. I believe this experience was just the right amount of spark that I needed to allow me to get off the sidelines, face what may seem to be uncomfortable, and to start getting more involved.

Please send my warm regards and sincere appreciation to your entire team and know that I am cheering you all on from afar.  And if any of you need a friend in Florida, I am only a phone call away.

Best wishes for continued success and fulfilment. And congratulations on the 20th anniversary milestone.
