CCRG alumnus Dr Kei Sato named best MCS presenter in Japan

Congratulations to CCRG alumnus Dr Kei Sato who has won the best presenter in Mechanical Circulatory Support at the 44th Annual Meeting of Japanese Society of Cardiovascular Medicine.

Held over two days in June, the meeting saw specialists from across Asia-Pacific come together to share latest research findings and strengthen academic exchanges in the area.

Dr Sato, who recently returned to Japan after 4 years with CCRG, presented a poster on the Group’s extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) research.

“I am extremely grateful for the support of my CCRG peers. The meeting was an important platform to profile the work we do to increase clinical understanding of hard-to-treat diseases and conditions.

“As discussed at the meeting, my major research goal is to find a non-invasive ultrasound parameter for heart assessments that can currently only be obtained via invasive methods. Evidentially, I hope my work will support clinicians during bedside decision making,” said Dr Sato.

Outgoing Chairman of the Japanese Society of Cardiovascular Medicine, Dr Yasushi Tomita thanked everyone who participated in the 44th Annual Meeting before announcing the incoming chairman.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the participants, the companies that cooperated with us, and all the people involved. The next Annual Meeting will be held in Tokushima City, with Dr Katsuya Tanaka, Professor, Department of Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, University of Tokushima, serving as the chairman,” said Dr Tomita.
