Recent Masters graduate joins the team
Having travelled, worked, and studied in more than 10 countries, Senior Research Assistant Rachana Panduru joined CCRG earlier this year and credits a stint in Northern Ireland for kickstarting her passion for research.
“I completed my Bachelors Degree (Hons) in Biomedical Science at The International Medical University in Malaysia, including undertaking an internship at Ulster University in Coleraine, Northern Ireland. During my internship I was involved in a few projects and publications which was the perfect introduction to research,” says Rachana.
Soon after, Rachana joined The David Fairlie Laboratory at The University of Queensland’s Institute for Molecular Biosciences (IMB) to do her Masters in Biotechnology Research Extensive.
“At IMB with Professor Fairlie’s group, I worked on the Site-directed Mutagenesis (SDM) Project, focusing on a type of G protein coupled receptor (GPCR), C3aR.
“I finished on the project and procured my Masters Degree in December 2022 when I also received the prestigious Dean’s Commendation Award.”
Rachana says her research interests closely align with CCRG and is excited to join the collaborative, multidisciplinary environment to build her research career.
