The Critical Care Research Group joins our colleagues around the world in mourning the passing of Professor Paolo Pelosi, MD, FERS, Head of the Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Unit and Regional Poison Control Center at San Martino Policlinico Hospital in Genoa, Italy.

Paolo, who discovered several groundbreaking therapeutic strategies for critically ill patients with respiratory diseases and developed the concept of primary and secondary ARDS, has been a great friend and kind mentor for many at CCRG. His commitment to supporting young doctors and researchers was evidenced by his desire to share knowledge and skills, ultimately paving the way to improved outcomes for our patients.

“We will fondly remember Pelosi’s kindness and friendship, and his legacy which lives on in the many junior doctors and researchers he mentored,” said CCRG PRIMELab Scientific Lead A/Prof Gianluigi Li Bassi.
