Introduction: Advances in prenatal diagnosis, perioperative management, and postoperative care have dramatically improved outcomes for children with congenital heart disease (CHD) in recent decades. However, as increasing numbers of infants and young children survive their initial cardiac operation, substantial neurodevelopmental morbidities continue to complicate long-term outcomes in this population.
