Director John Fraser inducted as ELSO Fellow
Critical Care Research Founder and Director, Professor John Fraser has been inducted into Fellowship of the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (FELSO). Professor Fraser is the first Australian-based clinician to be inducted into the Fellowship since 2018.
A FELSO induction is an honour bestowed on select physicians, nurses, perfusionists, therapists and researchers who have provided distinctive contributions to the global art and science of extracorporeal support delivery. Election to FELSO identifies global recognition of those who have advanced the field in diverse and lasting ways. The charter class of FELSO inductees was selected in 2015.
Together with colleagues from the COVID-19 Critical Care Consortium, Professor Fraser mobilised a global collaboration of clinicians, scientists, government ministers and corporations in the fight against COVID-19. The keystone of this collaboration has been his encouragement of junior researchers and students. In addition, he has brokered the cooperation of many disparate groups, his thespian skills have been employed to great effect to enthuse the members of the consortium.
